The Chinese Tea Culture Course was an international, virtual program held on June 13th-24th, 2022, at the University of Faisalabad, Ameen Campus. The course had a total of 100 participants, consisting of faculty and students.
Hosted by Guangxi Vocational College of Water Resources and Electric Power, China, the program dealt with the methods of preparation of tea, the equipment used to make tea, and the occasions at which tea is consumed in China. The tea making course was designed not just to teach the art of tea making, preserving and brewing but also to enlighten people about Chinese tea culture.
Through the course, participants came to learn that in China, drinking tea is actually a spiritual enjoyment, an art or means of cultivating people’s moral character, and nourishing their nature. The purposes of serving tea are to prove wellness, to recognize status, and to bring people together. Offering and drinking tea together is a sign of respect. In conclusion, students were also able to appreciate tea culture, correctly select and buy as well as preserve tea, drink tea healthily, distinguish between different tea leaves, choose the right utensils for brewing different kinds of tea, and organize tea events.
